Stop Running and Write the Book!

ID-10065499supakitmodI love watching biographies of successful business owner. One that really stands out is the life of Conrad Hilton of the Hilton Hotels Empire. As a young child he worked in the family owned general store where his father taught him about buying, trading, etc. The family also rented out rooms in the evening to men traveling from town to town for work.

Conrad hated the general store and as he grew older made every effort to disassociate himself from the business. He tried the military, politics and was convinced he was meant to be a banker. With money he obtained via the military and other means he had enough money to purchases his own bank. The day he was to purchase the bank the deal fell through…out of sheer frustration and the money burning in his pocket his purchased his first little 40 room hotel and the rest asey say is history. Because of his background working in the general store Conrad understood the mechanics of running a business that involved trade materials. It was at this little hotel that he came up with the idea of offering a hot meal to the customers…something he remembers his Mom doing with their tenants.

Anywho, I shared this to say, the very thing we’re trying to detach from could be our wealthy place. For Conrad, he wanted to prove to his father that he was more than the son of a general store clerk. He wanted to be successful and taking over the general store was in his mind was beneath him. (insert smile) But God is not wasteful beloved…what ability do you have that you think is beneath you? What are you trying to make fit that’s not working to prove a point?

I encourage you to go back and tap into what you already know and do it…at least that’s my plan. God bless you writers and entrepreneurs!
